Big Stick

Should a coordinated raid be carried out on Israels nuclear facility at Demona to take away their big stick ?

After all there is enough talk about the jews carrying out a similar raid on the Iranian facility, so before all the Zionist demagogue's get posting why the double standards ?

I don't see the Israelis threatening to wipe other nations off of the map.. There's no double standard there. One nation is threatening the security of the region with the use of nuclear weapons. The other is not.

Your screen name is quite fitting.

Beat Off Father Time With a Big Stick - Strength Training

Today's lifestyles are sedentary compared to those of our ancestors who worked very hard hunting and gathering. We spend much of our time sitting in front of computers, driving in cars, and watching our televisions, so many of us need to plan our daily physical exercise so that we stay healthy.

By sticking with those fitness plans on a regular basis, we can increase the number of years we can expect to live. And, regular proper exercise adds quality to those extra years because it makes us feel better - physically and emotionally.

Men and women who perform strength training exercise retain muscle strength and bone density as they grow older, rather than lose it. If you stay sedentary, you will lose about 1% of your muscle mass every year, which accelerates the rate that you age. But by consistently working out, you will hold the line against this loss.

Father Time takes its toll on our bodies, but you don't have to sit back and let the effects of aging take place without a fight. You do have the power to control how much and how fast the aging process works on your body. You can even reverse some of the damage that has already been done over the years.

With a basic strength building and maintenance program, exercises done in less than an hour a day, twice or three times a week, can turn back the clock. If you are not involved in this type of exercise now, give it a try, in a few short weeks you will feel better, have more energy, be stronger, and healthier.

You will even notice that you look slimmer, tighter, and firmer than you have for years. If you are carrying excess baggage from years of good cooking and not enough exercise you will see the fat drop off and burn away as muscles steal energy from the fat storage cells to grow and replenish themselves as you get stronger.

No matter what your age is now it's never too late to start strength training. Building and preserving muscle mass is crucially important to a more youthful appearance now and independence in your later years. For most people, muscle strength peaks during the twenties or thirties and then starts the downward slide that eventually makes it tough to get out of the bathtub, rise from an easy chair, pick up a grandchild, climb stairs or carry a bag of groceries. But this decline is not inevitable and is totally avoidable.

Research scientists have been looking long and hard for the enzyme, gene, or other reasons that cause loss of muscle and bone strength as we age. Fortunately for us, the results all point to a different cause: our behavior. As the years go by, people use their muscles less, and the use-it-or-lose-it principle kicks in to shrink your muscles causing them to lose strength and drop your metabolism (the rate your body burns fuel).

The solution is strength training. You need to give yourself the opportunity to make the changes in your life that will safeguard your health and prepare you for a fuller, richer power packed life. This will need to be a decision to make your own health a number one priority in your life. If this is a new process for you, or if you have not had a regular exercise program in your life for some time, you will need to lay the ground work, fire up your engines and get going. Once you discover how great you feel you will never want to go back to the way you were.

Big Stick

I am a really lucky person. I absolutely love the game of golf, and "bad shots" just don't get to me in the way that they do a lot of other golfers. To me, when that ball ends up tucked under the rim of a sand trap, or right up behind a tree trunk, I am provided with an opportunity to be creative; I relish the opportunity to try something new on the golf course and then just watch what "pops out".

I guess that I'm lucky in that the score doesn't matter to me. I'm not playing golf to earn enough money to feed the family or pay the mortgage. I play golf because I enjoy golf, and everything which goes with it - the friends you make, the scenery, the fresh air, the exercise. The majority of golfers are in a similar position in that their livelihood does not depend upon them holing out on the 18th for a birdie.

Not all club golfers, however, enjoy their "bad shots" or respond to them in a positive manner. Somehow, a fear of embarrassment or a competitive nature can get in the way of true enjoyment of the game. I'm not denying that golf throws up many an opportunity for frustration; the game of golf is extremely challenging to one's emotional stability!

If you are a beginner at golf, it helps to recognize that it is a really tricky game to play involving a long club, a small ball and a really large distance to cover. Don't worry about what other people think; those other golfers started off in exactly the same place as you. They understand how that club can seem to turn itself into an octopus in your hands and how that ball can get all stubborn and refuse to move in the right direction (if indeed it decides to move at all).

And remember that you do get better at golf with practice so do not be disheartened. Whenever you go to the range or play a few holes there are always a few lovely shots which "pop out"; replay these in your mind's eye and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment over and over again. You know that you are capable of hitting shots like this and they will happen more and more frequently. This is what gets you excited and chomping at the bit to get out there and play again!

Please don't allow your shoulders to slump and your gaze to just contemplate the grass upon the fairway. Your body language reflects your moods and emotions. When you feel down, everything about your body language heads south. Square your shoulders, raise your eyes and enjoy the beauty of the golf course; laugh with your friends, and know that this is just a tricky little game which is going to get easier and easier with practice, so long as you don't worry about it. Just as your moods are reflected in your body language, as you consciously lift your eyes and shoulders up, this will have a reciprocal effect upon your emotions. Always keep your head high when playing golf. Keep your head up and feel uplifted; allow your head to stay down and you will feel down.

The other thing that is really helpful is to not forget the task in hand. The aim of the game is to hit the ball with the clubface and move that ball forwards in the right direction. As a beginner it can be really complicated trying to remember how you are meant to stand, and how your hands are meant to go, and each movement in the swing, and how far to stand from the ball, and how high to tee the ball up...and all too easy to forget that all you need to do is to aim in the right direction and then hit the ball!

Golf is a really unique game and well worth the trials and tribulations encountered in its learning. What other game can you play on your own as well as with others, in groups of two, three or four? And players of all levels can play together without an individual's game being compromised? And people of almost any fitness level and age can enjoy? And be outside in the fresh air? And play on different courses all over the globe? I could go on and on about the beauty of this game but think I've probably said enough! This is a very GREAT game.

Enjoy your golf!

Sports Nutrition Guide For Women

Women have an entirely different body system compared to males. That is why your, assuming you are a woman with interest in sports, nutritional needs are different too. And like men, women are also capable of involving themselves in sports.

Sports nutrition for women is also different. Women involved in sports and regular exercise have some special nutritional needs. Although the basic principles of sports nutrition for you and men are similar, you, and the other women, involved in regular sports activities do have some increased needs for certain nutrients.

This is because you are prone and at risk of dietary deficiencies. This does not mean to say that men are completely immune, only that since women have ongoing cycles inside their body, it is highly imperative for them to keep nutrients up to be able to prevent disorders.

The key nutritional issues in sports nutrition for women include calcium and iron. Weight control and eating disorders are also concerns of sports nutrition for women. You need these nutrients for their body to perform properly.

There still has been no scientific explanation for this, but it is in truth that women are very conscious of weight. So having a normal weight will give you a healthy psychological system.

Calcium is a mineral that plays an essential role in growth. In sports, muscle and mind coordination is important. It also helps in muscle contraction and transmission of nerve impulses.

Another area where it is very helpful is in the development and maintenance of strong bones. It will really play a big part in the sports nutrition for women.

Having adequate amounts of calcium during your childhood and adolescence is important for deveoping an optimal peak in bone mass by your mid twenty's to your early thirty's. This will then help you reduce your risk of acquiring osteoporosis or the thinning of your bones.

Some women who are into sports are at risk of inadequate calcium intake, while some are at risk of early osteoporosis due to the absence of appropriate amount of calcium, or an irregularity of their menstrual cycle. So conclusively, sports nutrition for women should have higher intakes of calcium.

There is a list of recommended dietary intakes of calcium for sports women according to their ages. For girls with ages twelve to fifteen, they must have at least one thousand milligrams of calcium per day. For teenagers with ages sixteen to eighteen, on the other hand, should have a normal calcium intake per day, which is eight hundred milligrams. For women who are having their menstrual periods, they should also take eight hundred milligrams of calcium a day.

Post menopausal women should have at least one thousand milligrams per day of calcium, while women who are pregnant and who are also breastfeeding should have one thousand two hundred milligrams per day.

And, not to be the least, sportswomen who have an absent or an irregular menstrual cycle, they should have at least one thousand to one thousand five hundred milligrams in a day. It is detrimental for women to meet their required calcium intake for normal functioning.

The mineral iron is used in forming hemoglobin, which is essential in holding the oxygen in the blood as they are being transported to various parts of the body. It is also an essential nutrient for energy production and immunity.

Athletes are more prone to iron deficiencies than anyone else in the world. Women are at a bigger risk because they continually lose blood as they undergo the cyclical process of menstruation. Plus, strenuous exercises contribute to the loss of iron through the destruction of red blood cells. Inadequate iron intake are associated with reduced athletic performance. Sports nutrition for women require iron in big amounts.

Keeping your body's fat levels low is the aim of many female athletes. Excess fats may be detrimental to performance. However, less fat or no fat at all compromises the energy level of a female athlete. Low energy also affects your performance, so it is really important that you keep the nutrients in your body and follow sports nutrition for women for a performance of a superstar that you have long been searching to experience.

Baseball And Your Feet

Copyright (c) 2009 Dr. Jennifer Feeny

Take me out to the ballgame

For over one hundred and fifty years, Americans have been devoted to the game of baseball as both fans and participants. With the arrival of each spring, thousands of people across the country search for their gloves and cleats in preparation for the upcoming baseball and softball season. Spring also brings an influx of patients to the local emergency rooms and doctor's offices because of the injuries associated with our national pastime. Before you ever step up to the plate, take the time to ensure that you are actually ready to run the bases.

Coming off the bench (or couch)

Baseball and softball seem pretty safe compared to other "contact" sports. But far too often, a lack of preparation and self awareness is what leads to a sports injury.

As with any physical activity, make sure that you are fit to play long before the first game. A person over 40, smokers, diabetics or anyone who has a physical disability should see a physician before starting any type of vigorous exercise. Those who have existing foot problems should see a podiatrist who can offer you a gait analysis and advise you on the inherent risks associated with your activity.

Before you take the field, did you inspect the field? Always do a walk through of the playing surface before you dive head first after that shallow line drive. Rocks, broken glass and countless other potential hazards could be waiting for you in the grass. Are the bases secured? Are there any dips or holes in the infield or outfield? These things should be taken into consideration at all times.

Shoe essentials

The right equipment is essential to the enhanced performance and safety in any sport. Baseball and softball players rely on the traction of cleats to get them around the diamond.

Special consideration should be given to children under the age of 10 before fitting them with cleats. While bigger kids and adults produce a lot of energy and torque while churning the bases, smaller children might not need the extra grip that cleats provide. Regular sneakers may provide adequate traction while reducing the risk of ankle injuries sometimes caused by a biting cleat. If a child wants cleats, be sure that they wear them around in the yard a good deal before they play their first game so they can get used to the feel of them.

Cleats should be fitted with the help of an experienced footwear technician using the same socks that will be worn on game day. When wearing new cleats for the first time, pay close attention for signs of irritation like redness, swelling, blisters or discomfort anywhere within the foot and ankle area. If any of these symptoms become apparent, discontinue use for two or three days. If there are reoccurring issues, see a podiatrist to diagnose the problem.

Injuries and treatment of the lower extremities

* Shin splints occur when the muscle and tendon attached to the shin become inflamed due to stress fractures. Treat with cold compresses immediately after exercising. Proper stretching and strengthening exercises help prevent shin splints.
* Achilles Tendonits is the result of tightness in the calf and the subsequent aggravation of the Achilles tendon. Stretching the calf muscle properly before and after a game will minimize any discomfort.
* Plantar Fasciitis, commonly referred to as arch and heel pain, occurs when the fascia that runs along the bottom of the foot becomes inflamed. Heel spurs may also be present as a result of an inflamed fascia. A qualified podiatrist can evaluate your condition and will sometimes prescribe custom fitted shoe inserts to correct the situation. Proper stretching techniques go a long way to alleviate the pain associated with this ailment.

Summer fun isn't much fun when your feet hurt, so keep these tips in mind when you are out there on the diamond:

* Learn proper stretching techniques and do them regularly
* Check to be sure the playing surface is free of hazards
* Get accustomed to new cleats before actually playing in them
* Consult a podiatrist if your foot and ankle pain cannot be easily remedied
* Have fun!!

Do you have a preferred golf player? Is it Tiger Woods or Ernie Els? Have you endlessly considered that your swing looks similar to theirs? Woods and Els are two excellent golf players. While you observe them play, you can certainly become aware of their elegant and dominant swings. Truthfully, it is not easy to reproduce that merely by watching.  Following the steps below to improve golf swing.

Having a high-quality swing needs continuous practice. Also, your body needs to be well tuned up for it to do properly. Here are a number of essential tips to help you develop your golf swing and might help you shoot in the 90s or even 80s.

1. Warm up. Just like any other game or sport, golf players need a little warming up before starting a round. This is what most players, especially amateurs, often take for granted.

It is best to come early at the golf course and take a few minutes to stretch those muscles and warm up. This will make your muscles "know" that they are in for something and that they should be prepared. Taking a few swings in the driving range will also help you get tuned up and perform better.

2. Exercise. This is actually important, not only for golf. Constantly exercising your body and muscles will be able to keep them toned and prepared for any action. This will moreover avoid frequent body aches and pains that you typically experience when playing golf.

Getting into the habit of exercising, in particular tuning up your muscles will be able to possess a huge impact on your swing. It can assist you obtain a good quality position and encourage total balance and control on your swings and help hit longer drives.

3. Do not swing too hard yet. It is in fact alluring to provide your swing that additional effort. Then again, it is not recommended unless you already obtain the control of your swing. The secret to a strong and polished swing is the balance and control that you possess, add to it the right form and stance.

Therefore how do you get to learn to control your swing? Yet again, it's tip number 2. Regular training will, in time, permit you to obtain a faster, more controlled swing.

Aside from these easy steps to do, it is also best to ask help from the pros, face-to-face or thru online methods. They will be able to give high-quality advices as they already have learned a lot from their experiences. Keeping updated with the most up-to-date about golf will also help.

Additionally, nearly all players are inclined to be so mindful in their longing to develop their swing that their minds are focused on all features of the swing itself; doing that will simply make your swing appear clumsy. As an alternative, it is best to keep your mentality off your swing. Strive to concentrate on something else and the high-quality swing will just tag along.

Try to do these things when you play golf again. And do these regularly, then notice the change it will make on your next golf swing and you'll be on your way to break 80!

Get FREE insider information to help you improve your golf swing, break 80, cure your golf slice and hit longer drives! We'll also help you improve your short game. Learn more at Golf Tips Insider. For more free videos and tips, also visit our blog at: www.GolfTipsInsider.com/Blog

Youth Baseball Conditioning

There are many valuable youth baseball conditioning techniques to increase your players’ abilities by maximizing their strength, range of motion, and flexibility. Just as a car can only travel as fast as its engine will allow, in like manner, baseball players can only perform to the degree that their bodies will allow. If coaches, parents and mentors ensure that their players are involved in recommended youth baseball conditioning training, they will be increasing their players’ chances to fulfil their maximum potential.

Here are some advised youth baseball conditioning techniques that are recommended for youth baseball coaches for the development of their players:

  • Pitching Better through Swimming - Swimming can actually strengthen the shoulder muscles and enable pitchers to throw the baseball harder while protecting pitchers from devastating shoulder injuries. It is recommended that pitchers swim in free style for two minutes with a series of 4 repetitions. If the player can not swim, then the pitcher can stand waist deep in water under adult supervision and push the water away from the body with a hard thrust and fingers spread apart. This should be repeated for 2 minutes at a time.

  • Sprint to Success - One of the traditional youth baseball training programs remains the best. Players need to build up their endurance in order to play the entire game with strength and energy. Wind sprints are the best way for youth baseball players to build up their endurance and, at the same time, bond with their teammates. If your players run wind sprints as a team or in bunches, such as pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders, you will be building up their endurance and the team will become closer as a unit. Ten 60 yard sprints are a good way to start, and you can lengthen the distance and repetitions over time.

  • Squeeze that Ball - Another simple youth baseball conditioning exercise can be done everywhere from the ball field to the schoolyard and even to bed. Baseball players can increase their wrist strength by squeezing a rubber Spalding ball. Yes, these pink balls are still of infinite value to baseball players – pitchers, to increase the speed of their pitch; hitters by increasing their bat speed and, therefore, the distance of their drives; and fielders by increasing the strength of their throws.

  • Stretch Before Games – Stretching and warm-ups are a key element of baseball conditioning training protocols to prevent injuries. Prior to every game and practice, baseball coaches should lead their team in a regular series of stretching and warm-up exercises for at least 10-12 minutes. Before the players begin playing baseball, make sure to cover all major muscle groups including shoulders, legs, arms, hips, and back.

Of course these are just a few, simple youth baseball conditioning exercises among many. Baseball coaches should be familiar with a wide variety of exercises and should weave these into a more holistic conditioning training plan that is appropriate to the age of their players.

Combined with a variety of baseball drills that make the game fun and build the fundamental skills needed to play, a strong baseball conditioning training regimen will ensure that players reach the top of their game and avoid unnecessary injury.

Just as people are scared of hypnosis, many are adept at avoiding mental issues in general. I mentioned earlier that I listen carefully to the words used by commentators. You might find it interesting to pay more attention to the particular words and phrases used as well. Nine times out of ten the commentary will focus on the mental side of the game. For example "What were you thinking there Tiger?" or "Can he keep this up?" and so on. There are far more comments made about the thought processes at play than the mechanics of the swing. We can relate to the comments made, we accept that they are generally accurate, and yet very few of us pay attention to this aspect of our own golf game.

We are far more likely to say, "I chunked that one" or "your head came up" than to get behind these actions and ask "why?" What was the thought process that caused that outcome? Were you committed to the golf shot or were you thinking "have I got the right club here?"? You will only be able to control your golf game when you learn to control your mind. You need to be aware of what you are thinking before you can change how you think. You also need to be aware of the optimal way in which to think and then you can choose to think in this way.

It's amazing how many people aren't even aware of what they are thinking. This may sound really silly. But to put what I'm saying into context, a Harvard University study found that the average person has 60,000 thoughts a day, and 59,500 are the same as the day before. Are you aware of the 60,000 thoughts you had yesterday? Or were some of them subconscious? And were a few of them repetitive?

Try a little exercise if you like. Go to the range, or the chipping area, or the putting green and plan to spend five minutes in which you only think about what you are doing. See if you succeed in this plan...I bet you don't! It's difficult to control your thoughts even for five minutes let alone the three and a half hours it takes to play a round of golf.

You just aren't going to control your thoughts for a full round of golf. But what you can do is control and consciously direct your thoughts for the few minutes which each golf shot takes, including your pre-shot and post-shot routines. And if you want to make this task easy for yourself you can employ a little bit of self-hypnosis. Remember the definition of hypnosis given before - "a state of relaxation, at one with a state of heightened awareness, induced by suggestion". You can learn to relax and focus at will with the use of hypnosis.

You have the ability to control and direct your thoughts. There's no point saying "but you know me, I always do that". If you think like that, you WILL always be like that. Everything in life begins with a thought; every action is preceded by a thought. There's no point in focusing on changing your actions and behaviors without first addressing your thoughts.

Why not spend a little bit of time in learning to how to control and direct your mind? You can learn how to relax and play golf in the zone with the help of hypnosis downloads. The professionals use golf hypnosis because it works; hypnosis downloads can be used to get you to focus clearly and to play in the zone.

Vijay Singh for example uses weighted medicine balls to work his golf core muscles throughout the whole week of the tournament. In fact his caddie is his rainier. How convenient! The best of both worlds!

But hearing the phrase golf core exercises and knowing what your core is are two different things entirely. As a fitness professional it's easy for me to throw out that phrase often to impress would-be clients or customers to my golf fitness training products.

But that's not the case. Understanding what your core is and how it plays a critical role in producing maximum power; injury prevention and even stability is very important. Once you know?you'll soon realize this may be your missing link to a great game.

This area (core) starts roughly at your belly button and goes up to the bottom of your sternum. It is the engine of your body and awareness of your core affects golf the most. Think of it as the link in the chain that needs to be the strongest, not the weakest.

Two simple golf core exercises that will quickly strengthen your core is ab crunches and back extensions. These would be your initial exercises to give you the strength to move onto rotational exercises that put a little more stress on your spine if the muscles aren't conditioned enough.

Once you've accomplished the above exercises, you can move on to a crunch with a twist and a back extension with a twist. This will hit your rotational strength right away...which will quickly equate to greater power output and distance.

You can then progress up to standing on your feet doing several different variations of rotational movements with a single dumbbell, standing upright and also in your golf posture.

Now that you have a basic understanding of golf core exercises?you hopefully will see how important it is in your overall golf improvement plan.

So next time you hear the phrase on the television?you'll know what golf core exercises are.

Do you want to improve your golf game? More than 19,000 golfers in 36 countries on six continents swear our System fixed their swing problems once and for all.
