I guess that I'm lucky in that the score doesn't matter to me. I'm not playing golf to earn enough money to feed the family or pay the mortgage. I play golf because I enjoy golf, and everything which goes with it - the friends you make, the scenery, the fresh air, the exercise. The majority of golfers are in a similar position in that their livelihood does not depend upon them holing out on the 18th for a birdie.

Not all club golfers, however, enjoy their "bad shots" or respond to them in a positive manner. Somehow, a fear of embarrassment or a competitive nature can get in the way of true enjoyment of the game. I'm not denying that golf throws up many an opportunity for frustration; the game of golf is extremely challenging to one's emotional stability!

If you are a beginner at golf, it helps to recognize that it is a really tricky game to play involving a long club, a small ball and a really large distance to cover. Don't worry about what other people think; those other golfers started off in exactly the same place as you. They understand how that club can seem to turn itself into an octopus in your hands and how that ball can get all stubborn and refuse to move in the right direction (if indeed it decides to move at all).

And remember that you do get better at golf with practice so do not be disheartened. Whenever you go to the range or play a few holes there are always a few lovely shots which "pop out"; replay these in your mind's eye and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment over and over again. You know that you are capable of hitting shots like this and they will happen more and more frequently. This is what gets you excited and chomping at the bit to get out there and play again!

Please don't allow your shoulders to slump and your gaze to just contemplate the grass upon the fairway. Your body language reflects your moods and emotions. When you feel down, everything about your body language heads south. Square your shoulders, raise your eyes and enjoy the beauty of the golf course; laugh with your friends, and know that this is just a tricky little game which is going to get easier and easier with practice, so long as you don't worry about it. Just as your moods are reflected in your body language, as you consciously lift your eyes and shoulders up, this will have a reciprocal effect upon your emotions. Always keep your head high when playing golf. Keep your head up and feel uplifted; allow your head to stay down and you will feel down.

The other thing that is really helpful is to not forget the task in hand. The aim of the game is to hit the ball with the clubface and move that ball forwards in the right direction. As a beginner it can be really complicated trying to remember how you are meant to stand, and how your hands are meant to go, and each movement in the swing, and how far to stand from the ball, and how high to tee the ball up...and all too easy to forget that all you need to do is to aim in the right direction and then hit the ball!

Golf is a really unique game and well worth the trials and tribulations encountered in its learning. What other game can you play on your own as well as with others, in groups of two, three or four? And players of all levels can play together without an individual's game being compromised? And people of almost any fitness level and age can enjoy? And be outside in the fresh air? And play on different courses all over the globe? I could go on and on about the beauty of this game but think I've probably said enough! This is a very GREAT game.

Golf Tee Box Positioning Course Management

There is only one goal when it comes to the desired landing area off the tee box. We all like to land the ball in the middle of the fairway or as close to the pin as possible on the par threes, but sometimes this task seems difficult to accomplish. Playing for the middle of the fairway or green could make the golf hole a little longer than we would like on some golf holes. However, playing and positioning yourself in the right area of the tee box may help you shorten the golf hole and avoid certain hazards on the golf course.

Next time you step on to the tee box, look down the fairway and take all golf conditions and the sloping fairway into consideration before placing your tee and golf ball into the ground. Check to see if there is any crosswind and what direction it is heading. Also, check to see which direction the fairway or green is sloping. When both are heading in the same direction, you may want to use a certain side of the tee box to your advantage, depending on which way you want the ball to maneuver. This sometimes can be confusing in choosing to aim left, right, or center of the tee box when thinking about your desired placement on the teeing area.

Stepping into the correct position on the tee box not only accounts on whether there is a crosswind and or a sloping fairway and green. You must determine on how high your odds are in hooking, fading or slicing the golf ball, unless you know how to hit the ball straight consistently. Also, is the golf hole straight away, dogleg right or left? You may have to determine the right golf club for distance, especially if the position on the tee box you choose will take you closer to the hazards that golfers seem to forget about or overlook. Teeing areas are not always level. Is the position you choose on the tee box going to place the golf ball higher or lower in your stance? When the golf ball is higher or lower in your stance, it could change the direction you want to aim with not much choice on your part. A golf ball higher in your stance will tend to go left and right if the ball is lower in you stance for right handed hitters.

A good example of positioning yourself in the correct position on the tee box would be a sand trap or a water hazard to the right of you. You may want to choose the right side of the tee box and aim left, if there were a smaller or no hazard in this direction. Just keep in mind, a hazard is a hazard and it is a matter of which hazard will not bring other hazards into play, if you end up in one or the other! Staying away from water on the right and ending up in a sand trap to the left could be a nightmare for some, especially if you have to hit the golf ball back towards the water when the pin is located in this direction.

This may all seem a little confusing to say the least, but with careful thought before teeing up the golf ball, will make a big difference on your next golf shot to the green or pin. Choosing the correct position on the tee box is your only chance in taking advantage of playing the ball with your preferred lie. It is all part of golf course management which will lower your golf handicap and demand self golf discipline, which in turn makes better golf players.

Golf Bags: What To Choose

Your golf bag is a piece of golf accessory that allows you to carry all your other equipment with you such as the clubs, tees, markers, and perhaps an umbrella or towel. This piece of equipment doesn't necessarily have direct effects on your game but may have great influence on your overall game, comfort and fatigue level.

There are two major things that may affect your choice of golf bag- the gears that you will put into the bag and the way you will carry the bag. Are you making use of a caddie or a golf cart?

To these, there are basically three kinds of golf bags: the staff bag or the tour bag the travel or carry bag and the cart bag.

The staff bag or tour bags. The largest selection of golf bags is staff or the tour bags. They are readily equipped with enough storage space for 14 standard golf clubs and have rooms for other golf equipments that are necessary during the games. Most professional golfers use this type of golf bags as they always have caddies with them. So they may often choose to bring as much equipments as they prefer. Good staff bags are generally made of leather and other premium materials and are relatively highly priced.

Travel or carry bags. If smaller bags appeal to you and you are thinking of carrying your own bag, you may chose to have the travel or the carry bag. Though they may vary in different forms and sizes, they are rather smaller than the other golf bags. They are designed purposely to make room for the basic golf equipments such as limited number of golf clubs, other small accessories and a number of golf balls. There are also specialized carry bags for junior golf players.

The majority of travel bags are made of plastic, nylon and other lighter materials. There are carry bags that have added features that may expand the ease of use. Many are equipped with straps, others appear with stands. These stands allow players to get their clubs easily.

Cart golf bags. These are relatively smaller than the tour bags. However, using this kind of golf bag may require the help of a cart or caddie since it is more bulky than most tour bags. As the name suggests, cart bags are designed exactly to be used by golf carts. These have lesser pockets and are generally made of light materials.

Things to consider when choosing golf bags

- Given that you have a caddie with you, the size and weight of the golf bag may not necessarily bother you, unless it has become too heavy for your caddie. The weight specially won't matter if you are using a golf cart. However, if you intend to walk around the golf course while carrying your bag then it would be most ideal for you to choose the not-so-heavy bag that may contain all the equipments you need without being bulky. The most ideal in this case is the carry bag with a stand.

- The first question that would probably arise is " how much the bag will be". Like with most things, the more money your pocket may allow you, the more features you may get. You may buy golf bags for as low as $40 however, prices may reach up to $500. If your budget is limited, it is best to stick with a golf bag that has more features than what its price may earlier suggest. Finding for such may be a painstaking task but it will after all be for good.

- It is relatively important to take note of the feature of the bag. If you are normally carrying lot of equipments during your game, it is recommended for you to buy a bag that has many side pockets. However, if you prefer to bring along the most basic gears, lots of pockets may not necessarily be of the initial requirements.

As mentioned in the beginning of this article, golf bags don't have direct effects on the outcome of the games. It is not bad though to get some of the life's pleasures.

That's not just a problem with the uPro, though. All screens are difficult to see in direct, bright sunlight. In order to resolve this problem, the  uPro comes with a transflective screen, which minimizes the problem with sun glare. 

Easy to Use 

Besides this one possible complaint about the screen in direct sunlight, the UPro golf GPS system is remarkably easy to use. When you approach a hole, you get a flyover overview. This includes yardage lines measured from the center of the green. 

The device is very light and easy to carry. You can wear it on your belt or put it in your pocket. It's so small that it will not alter your swing at all. As a matter of fact, you'll hardly know it's even there. It's actually the sleekest, thinnest model on the market. Some other golf GPS devices are a little bulky. Not the uPro.

 In addition to being really easy to carry and store, you don't have to fiddle with a lot of buttons while you're golfing. You can give your uPro voice commands. 

The UPro golf GPS system has a very fast GPS satellite lock in system. One of the fastest on the market, if not the fastest. Now, it generally takes all golf GPS systems a few minutes to get sync'd once you turn them on.
